The scan displayed below was for stocks trading between $.05 and $.15 cents with at least 500K volume. I start by looking at the number of trades and those that only have a few trades I am not interested in as there is not enough general interest on the stock creating a potential situation, if I bought I might not be able to sell, in other words I would be "holding the bag".
Each of the stock's chart are then visually viewed and the ones that are hitting new highs after gaping up or have just started to pull back after gaping up I am not interested yet.
What I am looking for is stocks that are hitting new lows on large volume and are starting to firm up or stocks that have been slowly grinding higher and are starting to break out.
Today's scan turned up the following list. I have not done any DD on these stocks and have no idea if I will trade them or not, but I will be watching each of them, specifically the ones that had a lot of trades.
Of the list I did notice today $FAT.ca was getting some attention and did buy at $.09, selling at $.10 and re-bought late day at $.095, so that one I will be trading for sure :)

CEA is very thin all the way up to 20c. I'm considering taking a position.

ReplyDeletePosition size can vary depending on many factors, I pay $4.99 a transaction.
ReplyDeleteCEA I am very familiar with. I have a decent position. It has been a great stock to trade. I can say I talk to the CEO and he is black out. I have been in the stock before when this CEO said he was in black out. It is a huge buy signal. Everyone has a tell without saying much and this CEO's tell is when he says black out. LOL!! Anyways, news is imminent and my dd says the news is positive in nature. And anonymous you are correct. This stock is so thin, that it absolutely explodes. Best stock I have ever been in for heading north fast.

ReplyDeleteFor these scans I use StockWatch ... if I am looking for dividend stocks, I use my CIBC account.

DeleteI am considering giving them a try, not sure about their pricing though ($100+data fees). I am currently using StockStream (StockHouse) but finding them a little slower lately.
I only use them for picking up all the news releases and for doing after hours stocks scans, which cost me $5.20 a month.

ReplyDeleteFor the most part i trade the little stuff and put the profits into dividend stocks. Having said that there are times of the year were it is more profitable to find some decent micro-caps and hold them for a few months.
